Construction of Ampati Engineering College on a war footing, says Rakkam

Shillong, Sept 11: Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on Thursday assured that the government is committed to complete the construction of Ampati Engineering College.

Replying in the Assembly, Sangma informed that the physical progress of the Ampati Engineering College construction stands at 25 pc, with a total expenditure of Rs 15 crore till date.

“I assure you that we will complete Shillong and Ampati engineering college on a war footing,” he said.

The assurance was made after the Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma had urged the government to complete the project on a war footing.

TMC Ampati legislator Miani D Shira raised concerns about the lack of an approach road to the Ampati Engineering College.

The Education Minister responded that a temporary road needs to be constructed by the contractor, which gets washed away during rains.

He assured that the government would take up the matter for construction of the road.
