Shillong, Aug 14: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will hoist the national flag and take salute at the ceremonial parade during the state-level celebration of Independence Day in Shillong on Saturday.
Meanwhile, flag-hoisting will be done by various dignitaries at district and sub-divisional headquarters, and C&RD Blocks across the state.
Deputy Chief Ministers Sniawbhalang Dhar and Prestone Tynsong will hoist the flag at Williamnagar and Resubelpara respectively, according to a list issued by General Administration Department.
Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma will preside over the ceremony at Jowai, while Cabinet Ministers Timothy D Shira, Marcuise N. Marak, Lahkmen Rymbui, Brening A Sangma, Wailadmiki Shylla and Metbah Lyngdoh will hoist the flag at Nongstoin, Nongpoh, Tura, Mawkyrwat, Khliehriat and Mairang respectively.
MLAs Damanbait Lamare and Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar have been designated for Baghmara and Ampati.
At sub-divisional headquarters, Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai will hoist the flag at Sohra while Deputy Speaker Limison D Sangma will do the honour at Raksamgre.
Other MLAs assigned for flag-hoisting include Nujorki Sungoh at Amlarem, Jim M Sangma at Dadenggre, Charles Marngar at Pynursla, Ian Botham K Sangma at Chokpot, Celestine Lyngdoh at Mawshynrut, Shakliar Warjri at Ranikor, Gavin Miguel Mylliem at Patharkhmah, Arbinstone B. Marak at Rongjeng, Rupert Momin at Jengjal, and Subir Marak at Dalu.
For C&RD Blocks, MLA M Ampareen Lyngdoh will hoist the flag at Hima Shangpung under Laskein C&RD Block.
The state government has directed all district administrations to make necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of Independence Day functions.
