Drugs concealed inside modified gas cylinder seized in Garo Hills

Tura, Sept 5: Garo Hills police have arrested three persons, including a woman, after a raid of their house led to the discovery of the narcotic substance heroin concealed in vials inside their cupboard and a modified gas cylinder in the plains belt town of Shyamding, under Phulbari police station in West Garo Hills.

The raid took place on Thursday after police received a tip off that Khaibar Ali of Shyamding was concealing contraband substances in his house.

During the search of the premises, the police team recovered 85 vials containing yellowish powder, suspected to be heroin and weighing 30.58 grams, from his almirahs and from 2(two) soap cases kept inside a gas cylinder that had been modified.

Police also recovered money to the tune of Rs.1, 96,601/-, gold ornaments, mobile handsets and 134 nos of empty vials to supply the contraband from his house.

The accused persons Khaibar Ali, 59 yrs, his wife Moriom Bibi (45 years) and Nur Zaman, 20 yrs have been taken into custody.
