Dumper runs over Garo Hills biker


Tura, July 30: A biker lost his life after colliding with a speeding dumper in South West Garo Hills district on Monday.

The 30-year-old man, identified as Bilsrang R Marak, was riding his motorcycle from Chondonpara village towards Garobadha, 30 kms from Tura, when the incident happened.
According to police reports, Marak had attempted to overtake a three wheeler tempo when he collided head on with a dumper truck coming from the opposite direction. The force of the impact threw the motorbike to the side of the road where it hit a passing pedestrian who was taken to the nearby health centre for medical treatment.

The dumper that was involved in the accident sped away and Garo Hills Police have alerted neighbouring Assam to intercept the vehicle and detain the driver.
