Resubelpara, April 25: A one-day workshop under the MPOWER Youth Employment & Economic Growth initiative was held at Bakra Multi Facility Hall in Resubelpara on Saturday, bringing together policymakers, researchers, and local stakeholders.
Organized by the Government Innovation Lab in collaboration with the Harvard Growth Lab, Meghalaya Institute of Governance, and the Indian School of Business, the event focused on expanding livelihood opportunities for youth.
Chief guest and Tourism, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Timothy D Shira encouraged young participants to explore entrepreneurship, especially in agriculture and horticulture, highlighting the region’s untapped potential.
Experts Ricardo Villasmil and Santiago Segovia addressed key challenges such as remoteness and limited job avenues, stressing the importance of sustainable, non-government employment options.
The workshop also explored ways to balance traditional livelihoods with modern development while identifying practical employment paths for the region’s youth.
