Fake Assam Regiment Captain arrested in Shillong; Found with sensitive military data

Shillong, July 24: A man was arrested on Monday for impersonating a Captain from the Assam Regiment.

The suspect, identified as Sar Chehon Rongpi from Rongpi Village in Dokmoka, Karbi Anglong District, Assam, was detained in the 101 Area, Shillong.

Rongpi was found roaming around various military stations in an Indian Army uniform, falsely presenting himself as a military officer. Upon his arrest, authorities discovered sensitive military photographs and videos on his mobile phone, including images of military convoys, weapons like AK-47 rifles, and various military establishments.

The suspect has been handed over to Meghalaya Police for further investigation.
