Next recruitment to fill over 1,050 vacant posts in police: Tynsong
Shillong, Feb 27: The state government has assured of maintaining complete transparency in the recent police recruitment with the process being complaint-free till date.
“Transparency is the top most criteria of the department… PET and written marks have been displayed,” Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong told the Assembly on Friday.
In reply to a query, the minister explained interview marks weren’t disclosed to maintain privacy, but candidates could check their overall position online or via complaint to the board.
On age limits, Tynsong said the 2023 OM is in place after consultation, with no complaints received so far.
“The process adopted is beautiful, there’s no pressure now… transparency is a non-compromise subject of the government,” he added.
Tynsong assured the next recruitment would soon start for filling up the 1050+ vacancies.
“I assure the House that the next recruitment, with about 1050-plus vacancies, will start processing immediately after the current appointment process is completed on March 5. I have directed the Board to begin the new recruitment so that policing can be maximized as far as possible.”
On infrastructure development, he said, “This issue is very important; if you want to give better policing, we need these infrastructures. We keep doing that as it depends on availability of funds. We are trying our best to make sure infrastructure up to the police station and police outpost is available for better functioning of the police force in these areas.”
He promised to increase women police deployment saying, “Yes, we do have a challenge with shortage of manpower regarding women police – I will try my best to ensure women police are posted in all designated places.”
The deputy chief minister further assured strengthening cybercrime units, with a full-time SP in charge.
