Shillong, Sep 30: In a significant step towards shifting to paperless governance, the state cabinet has launched e-Cabinet system providing greater access to crucial documents for ministers and officials.
The new system will enable the cabinet to function entirely online, making the decision-making process more efficient, secure, and paperless, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma told reporters after a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The e-Cabinet system allows cabinet ministers to access and review documents, agenda, and past decisions online through secure and designated gadgets, he said.
The system also provides access to past cabinet decisions, enabling research and reference on subject-wise basis.
Another highlight of e-Cabinet system is online approval and fast decision-making, reducing the need for physical documents and promoting a paperless environment.
“Agenda for the cabinet meeting will come on this e-Cabinet… approval will be done online so that it will become a paperless cabinet and we will be able to perform the responsibility and duties electronically… we will be having a paperless cabinet meeting in the future,” Sangma said.
He further assured that the system is designed with robust security measures, ensuring that only authorized cabinet ministers can access the platform and documents.
