Shillong, Nov 4: Power Minister Metbah Lyngdoh on Monday said the government plans to ensure uninterrupted power supply, even during the dry season.
The minister said he has reviewed the situation with Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited officials and that he plans further discussions in it.
“We will try to ensure that there is no power cut even during the dry season,” Lyngdoh informed media persons, expressing optimism about the state’s power supply prospects.
Meanwhile, Lyngdoh has assured citizens that the ongoing power shutdowns are temporary measures necessary for infrastructure upgrades and new scheme implementations.
Lyngdoh explained that the shutdowns are not load shedding, but rather planned outages to activate new lines and substations.
Affected areas are informed through local headmen and sordars, he added.
The minister has taken a serious view of the issue and is confident that MeECL is doing its best to minimize disruptions.
He promised to share updates on the progress in the coming weeks, reassuring citizens of the government’s commitment to reliable power supply.
