Shillong, April 15: The Green Tech Foundation has remained firm on its demand for total cancellation of the five-star Taj Resort and Spa project at Umiam and its chairman H Bansiewdor Nonglang refused to end his indefinite hunger strike, following a discussion on the matter with the Tourism department.
Referring to its discussion with Tourism Director BL Pakyntein on Wednesday, GTF secretary general Ritre Lyngdoh said the Forum is firm on its demand for revocation of the agreement for the resort that includes Lumpongdeng island.
Alleging that the meeting was convened at short notice in the evening, Lyngdoh said, “The outcome of the meeting is quite very disappointing.”
He said the Tourism department refused to accept the Forum’s demand for revocation of the agreement that mentioned Lumpongdeng island to be part of the luxury resort and spa.
Meanwhile, the GTF announced their protest will intensify, saying, “The Green Tech Foundation through the chairman announces that the indefinite hunger strike shall carry on and demonstration as guaranteed by the Constitution of India shall be amplified.”
