Aizawl, Jul 21 : The police seized heroin worth Rs 5.64 lakh from a truck in east Mizoram’s Champhai district, and the driver of the vehicle was arrested, an officer said.
Acting on a tip-off, the district police conducted a search on the truck parked near a church in Champhai town on Sunday and recovered “15 hawng of heroin concealed under the helper’s seat, he said.
Hawng is a local measurement of heroin, and 1 hawng is equal to 13-15 grams.
The driver of the truck, aged 31 years, was arrested, the officer added. (PTI)
