Idol immersion draws curtain on: Ganesh Puja festivities in Tura

Tura, Aug 31: Ganesh Puja festivities came to a close with ritualistic immersion of around 17 idols of Lord Ganesha brought in procession from as many pandals in different localities of Tura town on Sunday.

The idols were immersed at Visarjan Ghat, Babupara amid huge numbers of devotees turning up for the joyous occasion.

The main idol procession taken out from the Police Parade Ground made its way through the heart of the town, passing via Hawakhana, the AOC Petrol Pump, and District Maternity & Child Hospital, before reaching the Visarjan Ghat.

The devotees chanted “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangal Murti Morya” with traditional music and drum beats further lifting the festive atmosphere.

The entire exercise from procession to immersion under supervision of the Central Puja Committee (CPC), which imposed strict regulations, including prohibition of DJs and continuous flow of processions that were meticulously abided by the organisers.

Club members and volunteers were instrumental in maintaining discipline and ensuring the normal movement of vehicles and pedestrians throughout the day.

Only a limited number of idols were allowed per procession, and all clubs cooperated fully with the police, contributing to a peaceful and well-organised event.

The festival brought together people from all walks of life in a spirit of unity and devotion marking the end of this year’s Ganesh Puja festivities.
