Jaiñtia Hills’ Rajiv Bareh appointed National Turmeric Board member

Jowai, Nov 18: The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has appointed Rajiv Bareh from East Jaiñtia Hills as a member of the National Turmeric Board.

The appointment was announced through an order issued on Tuesday.

The Board will comprise appointed members M.M. Kumareshan, Chetan Kumar Irappa and Rajiv Bareh, along with two representatives of turmeric and turmeric-product exporters — Tamuliphukan Rituparno and Dr. Vishnuvardhana Devela. The Director (Plantations) will represent the Department of Commerce.

Bareh, a resident of Khliehriat East, currently serves as Assistant Project Officer (NE) at D1 Williamson Magor Bio-Fuel Ltd. He is a former Youth Vice President of BJP Meghalaya (2014–2018) and has been serving as President of the East Jaiñtia District Cricket Association since 2020.
