Shillong, Aug 24: The police on Monday arrested another Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) leader – the fourth – in connection with the violence during the KSU’s black-flag bike rally on August 19, a senior police officer said.
Jeremiah Pohthmi, the assistant organising secretary of KSU, was arrested in the morning and produced before the court.
Police sources said he has been remanded to judicial custody.
According to police, Pohthmi is among five masked miscreants identified so far for their alleged involvement in arson and assault incidents, particularly attacks on Assam-registered vehicles.
Earlier, police had arrested three senior KSU leaders – president Raymond Kharjana, vice president Pynkmenlang Sanmiet and general secretary Reuben Najiar – in connection with the same case.
