Man convicted under POCSO Act in Meghalaya

Shillong, Jan 6: A 42-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in 2020.

The court of MK Lyngdoh, Special Judge (POCSO) East Khasi Hills in its judgment on December 17, 2025 has convicted Rocky Mawlong and said, “The accused shall serve the remaining sentence of 21 (twenty-one) years and 7 (seven) months in jail, for committing aggravated penetrative sexual assault to a minor girl, totalling the sentence of 25 (twenty-five) years imprisonment.”

The case investigated by WPSI Kharjana, presently posted at Women Police Station, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, was registered with the Mawngap P.S u/s 5(m)(n)/6 POCSO Act.
