Man held with 584 suspected Yaba tablets in South West Garo Hills

Ampati, Oct. 11: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of South West Garo Hills on Friday apprehended a man and seized a consignment of suspected Yaba tablets during a search operation in the Mirzumla area under Monabari police outpost.

The operation, based on source information, was conducted at a motor parts and hardware shop in the area, leading to the arrest of one Md. Safik Alom (35), a resident of Mohontapara, Mankachar, Assam.

According to police, the team recovered four packets containing 584 orange-coloured tablets suspected to be Yaba, weighing 65.37 grams, from his possession. A mobile phone was also seized.

All necessary legal procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were followed, and the seized items have been taken into custody.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace the source and network behind the illegal drug trafficking.
