Meghalaya Assembly deputy speaker attends AIPOC in UP

Shillong, Jan 19: Meghalaya Deputy Speaker Limison D Sangma is currently attending the 86th All India Presiding Officers’ Conference in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

The three-day conference, which began on January 19, focuses on leveraging technology for transparent governance, capacity building for legislators, and strengthening legislative accountability.

During the conference, Secretary to the Meghalaya Assembly Malthus S Sangma, who accompanied the deputy speaker, attended the 62nd Conference of Secretaries of Legislative Bodies in India, discussing key legislative issues.

The event features prominent speakers, including Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, who addressed the inaugural session and will deliver the valedictory address on January 21.

During the conference, presiding officers, secretaries of legislative bodies, and other distinguished representatives from across the country will engage in wide-ranging deliberations on legislative procedures, parliamentary traditions, conduct of the House, good governance, and contemporary legislative issues.

The deliberations will also focus on key themes such as leveraging technology for transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric legislative processes, capacity building of legislators to enhance efficiency and strengthen democratic governance, and ensuring accountability of legislatures to the public.
