Meghalaya Cabinet approves revised estimates for National Games infrastructure

Shillong, Feb 16: The state cabinet has approved revised cost estimates for several sports infrastructure projects meant for the 39th National Games.

Addressing media persons after the meeting on Monday, Minister in-charge Sports and Youth Affairs Wailadmiki Shylla said, “The cabinet has approved the revised cost estimate for sports infrastructure including the Aquatic and Tennis Complex Umsawli, Hostel Block Umsawli, Sunny Hills Tura, and Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma Athletic Stadium Tura.”

Explaining the reason for the revision, Shylla said, “Whatever estimate which increases above 25 percent has to be approved by the cabinet. It has crossed the amount of 25 percent because of additional requirements such as a practice pool, diving pool, and sitting arrangement based on requests from the Indian Olympic Association during their inspection.”

The projects will be funded by the state government.
