Meghalaya Cabinet okays Police Accountability Commission

Shillong, Feb 16: The state cabinet has given its nod to establish the Police Accountability Commission as mandated under the Meghalaya Police Act 2010.

After the meeting, cabinet minister Wailadmiki Shylla said, “The cabinet has approved the proposal for establishing the Police Accountability Commission.”

The commission will be headed by retired IAS officer Peter Ingty as Chairman, with retired IAS officer VR Syiem as a member.

The cabinet also approved the Meghalaya Flood Plain Zoning Bill 2026, Shylla added.
