Shillong, May 29: The Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) on Friday welcomed Indian Olympic Association president Dr PT Usha on her maiden visit to Shillong, with discussions focusing on athlete development, infrastructure improvement and preparations for the 39th National Games Meghalaya 2027.
Dr Usha was received at Shillong Marriott Hotel by senior MSOA office bearers, including working president John F Kharshiing, senior vice president EMH Passah, vice president Matsiewdor War Nongbri, joint secretary Pynbiang Laloo and treasurer Ksan Kupar Warjri.
Capt Ajay Narang, executive assistant to the IOA president, was also present.
According to the MSOA, its leadership expressed gratitude to Dr Usha for her continued encouragement and guidance in strengthening the Olympic movement and sports ecosystem in Meghalaya and the North East.
“The interaction focused on a collective vision for athlete development, infrastructure enhancement, and the successful hosting of the 39th National Games Meghalaya 2027,” the MSOA said in a statement.
The association reiterated its commitment to work closely with the IOA, the state government and all stakeholders to ensure Meghalaya emerges as a leading sporting destination in the country.
