Shillong, July 12: North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong has planned to establish a dedicated French Language Centre to offer intensive language training and certification programmes aligned with international standards.
The initiative came up for discussion during the NEHU vice-chancellor Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla’s recent visit to the Embassy of France in New Delhi.
In his discussion with Stéphanie Orfila, Attaché for Cooperation in Education, Embassy of France, the vice-chancellor also proposed to hold French film festivals, literary workshops, and academic seminars as part of the initiative at NEHU.

Furthermore, NEHU will work closely with Dr. Skill to design tailored career guidance services and specialized placement drives to help graduates secure professional opportunities in French-speaking countries.
He also shared NEHU’s plans to expand global placement support in collaboration with renowned career expert Dr Skill, who has successfully facilitated employment for over 150 candidates across Europe and other regions.
Meanwhile, Ms Orfila, said, “The Embassy of France is fully committed to supporting this promising collaboration with NEHU and Dr Skill.”
