No decline in Goa tourism: CM Sawant

Panaji, Jun 17: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday dismissed claims about a decrease in tourist footfall in the coastal state.

Addressing an event at Mapusa in North Goa, Sawant said that due to the geopolitical situation, international arrivals have been reduced for the time being.

“But we are receiving domestic tourists in large numbers. There is no decline in the tourism footfall as being propagated by some people,” he said.

The chief minister said his government has been creating infrastructure to cater to tourists in the state, famous for its picturesque beaches.

He appealed to private players to invest in the tourism sector, especially in wellness and spiritual tourism.

The state government will provide support in the form of infrastructure and skilling for the private players who would like to invest in the tourism sector, he added.(PTI)
