No restriction imposed on fuel dispensing: OMCs

Oil PSUs cautions public against ‘panic buying’

Shillong, May 19: Public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs) operating in Meghalaya have denied any restriction imposed on fuel dispensing and that supply of petrol, diesel and LPG continue uninterrupted across the state.

“Fuel dispensing operations are continuing smoothly at all retail outlets (in Meghalaya), with supplies being maintained in accordance with prescribed safety and operational norms,” according to a statement issued by Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited on Tuesday.

Despite global uncertainties affecting the oil and gas sector, the OMCs said, they are ensuring “uninterrupted availability of Petrol (MS), Diesel (HSD) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) across Meghalaya”.

The oil industry remains fully geared to maintain seamless fuel supplies through its extensive network of terminals, depots, LPG bottling plants and retail outlets across the state, they stated.

The companies said stock levels are sufficient and being replenished regularly.

“Adequate stocks of petroleum products are available across the supply chain and replenishment is being carried out continuously to efficiently meet genuine consumer demand,” it said.

LPG distribution is also unaffected. “LPG distribution to domestic consumers is also progressing normally across Meghalaya,” the statement added.

The OMCs said they are monitoring the situation closely. “The Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies are closely coordinating on logistics, stock positioning and distribution planning to ensure uninterrupted energy access for citizens. The overall supply situation remains stable and under constant monitoring,” the statement said.

Citizens have been advised against panic buying. “Citizens are advised to continue with normal purchasing behaviour and avoid unnecessary panic buying,” the OMCs said.

The companies also urged the public to rely on verified sources.

“The public is also requested to rely only on official communications issued by Oil Marketing Companies for verified and authentic information related to fuel availability,” the statement said.
