Nongpoh-Umden-Sonapur road on right track: MLA

Shillong, Jan 29: UDP legislator Mayralborn Syiem has expressed satisfaction over the progress of the crucial Nongpoh-Umden-Sonapur road project.

“Till now, on record I am saying the progress of the work is satisfactory,” Syiem told reporters on Wednesday.

Mentioning that foundation stone of the road was laid on December 10, 2024, Syiem said the work has been initiated with a request to the contractor, Dhar Construction, to expedite the project as far as possible.

He also appreciated the contractor’s efforts for continuing the work even in the rainy season, without stopping for a day.

The MLA, meanwhile, did not rule out “some discrepancies in such a big project” also reminded that “We cannot forget the 99.5% good work…”

Syiem also urged the citizens to verify information and report their concerns through writing to respective authorities.

The MLA, meanwhile, urged the people to build a sense of ownership for the public property and take care of it.

Reacting to a query, he said,”I thank those concerned people who have raised this issue. It has been an eye opener not only to the people involved in this project. We have to be very cautious in the days to come.”
