Morigaon (Assam), Aug 16: One person has been arrested and three others detained for questioning in Assam’s Morigaon district over alleged death threat to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on social media, police said on Sunday.
Morigaon SSP Nishant Sourav said the threat was posted in the comments section during a Facebook Live broadcast of Sarma’s Independence Day speech on Saturday.
“Following the comment coming to light, the person in whose name the purported Facebook profile was has been arrested from Baralimari in the Lahorighat area,” Sourav said.
The three persons detained included the accused’s father and brother, besides another person from the same area, the SSP said.
They are being questioned in the case, but they haven’t been arrested, Sourav said.(PTI)
