Announcing the cabinet decision, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said, “We have approved the regularisation of the cadres under the Meghalaya Nursing Service Appointment to the post of staff nurse and auxiliary nurse and midwife.”

He informed that the government has also regularised over 3000 employees in 2022 based on a Supreme Court ruling.

Later on, a list of more people who were eligible and falling in that category were again brought to the cabinet and they were also regularised, said the chief minister.

“Similarly, today the health department had brought a list of close to 1000 nurses who are also in that same category who have been appointed before December 2007 against sanctioned posts but done in an adhoc manner. Hence, following the same yardstick, the cabinet today has decided that we will regularise those who were appointed on adhoc basis against sanctioned posts before December 2007,” Sangma added.
