Public advisory on mandatory pet registration under Tura Municipality

Tura, Nov 20: The Tura Municipal Board has issued a public advisory informing all residents within Tura Municipality areas to take up the mandatory registration of pet dogs and promotion of Responsible Pet Ownership to ensure ownership regulation and public safety.

The Chief Executive Officer of TMB, J R T Sangma, today issued the advisory stating that a special public awareness campaign will commence from 8th December 2025 across the Tura Municipal jurisdiction, in collaboration with the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department. The initiative aims to ensure proper regulation of pet ownership, enhance public safety, and support better monitoring of pets within municipal limits.

“Registration of pets is essential for maintaining updated records, strengthening public health measures, and ensuring responsible ownership. I urge all pet owners within Tura Municipal areas only to cooperate fully with the registration process and adhere to the guidelines that will be issued,” the CEO said.

The Tura Municipal Board has also called upon the Area Development Committees and local residents to actively participate in spreading awareness so that the campaign reaches all households under the municipal jurisdiction. The CEO further appealed to the public to extend their support in making this initiative successful for the collective safety and welfare of the community.
