Nongpoh, Sept 1: Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearings in Ri Bhoi have been completed in 264 of the 338 polling stations across the district, while hearings on claims and objections at the remaining 74 are yet to be held.
The District Election Office said the revision exercise is progressing steadily across all five Assembly constituencies in the district. Of the total 47,968 cases of “no mapping” and 33,398 discrepancies recorded, hearings have been completed at 264 polling stations.
Mawhati Assembly constituency has 67 polling stations, with 9,890 no-mapping cases and 7,872 discrepancies. Hearings have been completed at 61 polling stations.
In Nongpoh, hearings have been completed at 58 of the 69 polling stations. The constituency recorded 8,544 no-mapping cases and 7,336 discrepancies.
Jirang recorded 9,016 no-mapping cases and 6,665 discrepancies across 79 polling stations, with hearings completed at 53 stations.
Umsning has completed hearings at all its 68 polling stations and recorded 11,666 no-mapping cases and 6,237 discrepancies.
Similarly, Umroi has completed hearings at all 55 polling stations. The constituency recorded 8,852 no-mapping cases and 5,288 discrepancies.
The District Election Office said the exercise has been completed in most polling stations, while work at the remaining stations is at different stages. Field officials are making efforts to ensure that all pending cases are taken up and disposed of within the stipulated period.
Electors who have not yet verified their names and particulars in the Draft Electoral Roll have been urged to do so at the earliest and submit claims or objections, wherever necessary, within the prescribed period.
