Shillong, Apr 27: Altogether 51 youth of Meghalaya received their appointment letters during the 15th tranche of Rozgar Mela, which was addressed by prime minister Narendra Modi, at State Convention Centre in Shillong on Saturday.
The prime minister virtually distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to successful candidates in various central government departments and organisations at the Rozgar Mela held at 47 locations across the country.

Candidates selected from various departments, including Income Tax, Department of Posts, Geological Survey of India, and Indian Railways, were handed over their appointment letters.
PM Modi lauded the unprecedented opportunities for youth, citing record-breaking production and export in industries like automobiles and footwear as key contributors to employment generation.
Addressing the occasion in Shillong, Union minister of state for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, said, “In the past one-and-a-half years, we have conducted recruitment drives with complete fairness, reflecting the motto of our government.”

“Your journey ahead is not merely about building a career but contributing to India’s growth story,” he added.
Highlighting the differences with UPA government (2004-14) in creating employment opportunities, he said while UPA created over 7 lakh government jobs in 10 years, the current government led by PM Modi created over 10.96 lakh government jobs and distributed them fairly in the past 10 years.
Margherita also highlighted the role of flagship schemes like the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) and the PM Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) in fostering entrepreneurship alongside employment.
