SC lists CMJ’s review petition for hearing

Shillong, Aug 5: The Supreme Court of India has listed for hearing a review petition filed by CMJ Foundation challenging the court’s earlier judgment that upheld the dissolution of the tainted CMJ University by the state government.

The review petition filed by CMJ Foundation & Others against the State of Meghalaya and others, will be heard by a bench comprising justice Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha and justice Sandeep Mehta.

Earlier, the Supreme Court affirmed the state government’s decision to dissolve CMJ University, citing non-compliance with statutory procedures and mismanagement.

The court had declared the appointment of the Chancellor invalid due to lack of Visitor’s approval.

The court had noted serious irregularities and mismanagement in the university’s functioning.

On July 29, the Supreme Court directed the matter to be listed for further proceedings.

This development marks a significant step in the ongoing legal process, with CMJ Foundation committed to presenting its case in accordance with the law.
