Shillong, Feb 3: Shillong MP Dr AJ Syngkon has sought the Centre’s intervention resolve the alleged academic and administrative crisis faced by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Shillong.
In a memorandum to Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, the VPP leader highlighted the institute’s challenges, including the absence of a regular Director, shortage of faculty, and vacant administrative posts.
Stating that these factors have impacted governance and academic delivery of NIFT, he said, “An institute of national importance like NIFT requires consistent leadership to maintain academic standards and administrative efficiency.”
He emphasised the need for a regular Director and filling of sanctioned posts at the central institute and sought the Union’s ministry’s intervention in this regard on a priority basis.
