Shillong, Oct 11: Minister in-charge Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Timothy D Shira, has urged the farmers of Meghalaya to avail opportunities provided under the Pradhan Mantri – Dhan Dhaanya Kisan Yojana (PM-DDKY), which was virtually launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.

Addressing a programme as part of PM-DDKY launch at Integrated Agricultural Training Centre, Upper Shillong, the minister said PM-DDKY encompasses various central government schemes and it can be helpful in improving farming conditions in the state.
He explained the scheme’s aspects and requirements during the programme organised jointly by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Krishi Vigyan Kendra East Khasi Hills, and the Meghalaya Agricultural Management and Extension Institute.

Shira also held an interaction session where he addressed queries from farmers coming from various C&RD Blocks of East Khasi Hills district.
Live streaming of the main programme at the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi, was shown to the attendees, where the Prime Minister launched the scheme to move towards a self-reliant and sufficient India.
