Shullai credits CM for growth of tourism in state

Shillong, Aug 21: BJP South Shillong MLA and chairman of Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation Ltd Sanbor Shullai has lauded the MDA government’s efforts in promoting tourism in the state and credited Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s leadership for taking the tourism department to new heights, making Shillong one of the most sought-after destinations.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Shullai said the developmental projects under the Tourism Department will start bearing the fruits of our hard work within the next few years.

Shullai said Meghalaya which  once upon a time didn’t even have any five star hotels is now coming with various such initiatives.

He stated that with several developmental initiatives the state will generate huge revenue from the tourism sector besides generating a huge number of livelihood.

He said that as a party which is a part of the government we too owed our responsibilities.

Recently while addressing South Shillong karkyatas, he suggested that the party should reach out to grass roots.

Besides that he suggested that our party leaders  need to carefully weigh the consequences before speaking out against the government where the BJP itself is a part of the alliance.

Shullai said that if there is any discontentment, we should discuss with the government rather than  going public.

Shullai further stated that the party has a high chance to win several potential seats and that the prime focus should be increasing seat share in the next election.
