Shillong, July 28: Meghalaya has recorded near-total coverage with no complaint during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026 exercise so far.
The house-to-house enumeration drive will conclude on Wednesday.
The exercise has recorded 99.62% distribution and 96.95% digitization of Enumeration Forms as of July 28.
Out of a total electorate of 23,49,645, a total of 23,40,764 forms have been distributed and 22,78,071 forms have been digitized.
“With only one day left, BLOs have been directed to cover the remaining households and complete digitization within the timeline. So far, we have not received any complaint and whatever issues come, we have already tried to address them,” Chief Electoral Officer Dr BDR Tiwari said on Tuesday.
He said regular review meetings and weekly video conferences with DEOs, EROs and AEROs have helped resolve field-level issues promptly and keep the process on track as per Election Commission of India guidelines.
86 new polling stations in state
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved rationalisation of polling stations in Meghalaya.
The move will add 86 new polling stations, taking the total in the state from 3,551 to 3,637.
The rationalisation aims to improve voter accessibility and reduce congestion on polling day.
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr BDR Tiwari on Tuesday held a meeting with representatives of recognized National and State Political Parties to review progress and pending tasks ahead of the Draft Electoral Roll publication.
During the meeting, the CEO shared updates on form distribution, digitization, and verification of ASSD cases.
He urged political parties to continue extending cooperation to ensure 100% coverage before the exercise concludes on July 29.
He appreciated the constructive suggestions from parties and acknowledged the role of over 1600 Booth Level Agents appointed by political parties in assisting electors and ensuring transparency.
“The continued cooperation between the election machinery and political parties has significantly contributed to the successful implementation of SIR across the state,” Dr Tiwari said.
Dr Tiwari extended appreciation to ECI, DEOs, EROs, AEROs, BLOs, BLAs, technical teams, political parties, Dorbar Shnongs, Nokmas, media and civil society for their support in making the house-to-house phase a success.
