Dambulla, Jun 21: Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi blazed away to a 29-ball 94 in a record 11-ball List A fifty, as India A piled up a daunting 377 for nine against Sri Lanka A in the final of the Team Tri-Series, here on Sunday.
Asked to bat, India A got off to a flying start through the 15-year-old who unleashed a brutal assault on the Sri Lanka A attack.
His stunning knock, studded with 10 fours and eight sixes, put India firmly in command and then skipper Tilak Varma anchored the innings with a composed 67 off 90.
India A were cruising at 209/2 at the halfway mark before Sri Lanka A fought back through their spinners Ravindu Fernando (2/72) and Wanuja Sahan (2/39).
India A lost five wickets for 51 runs in the back end before Anukul Roy batting at No 9 gave the final flourish (39 off 15b; 1×4, 4×6).
