Special Intensive Revision to begin in West Garo Hills from June 30

Tura, June 25: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will launch the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Meghalaya from June 30, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) undertaking a door-to-door enumeration exercise across West Garo Hills and other districts.

According to a public notice issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner (Election), West Garo Hills, the exercise aims to update and verify the electoral roll by enrolling new voters, correcting errors, removing duplicate entries and deleting the names of deceased electors.

As part of the exercise, BLOs will distribute Enumeration Forms to existing electors during house-to-house visits. Residents have been requested to fill in the forms and submit them along with the required documents. Electors are also advised to ensure that all eligible family members, particularly those aged 18 years and above, are properly enumerated.

The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5. Claims and objections can be filed between August 5 and September 4, while their disposal will continue until October 3. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 7.

The Election Department has urged citizens to inform BLOs about newly eligible voters, shifted electors, deceased persons, duplicate entries and any corrections required in the electoral roll.

For assistance, residents may contact the ECI Helpline at 1950 or the District SIR Helpline at 0364-2501250 and 0364-2501228. Electoral services are also available through the Voters’ Portal and the ECINET mobile application.
