State clears biopic on U Tirot Sing Syiem

Shillong, Aug 20: The Meghalaya government has given the green light for a film project titled “On the Life and Times of U Tirot Sing Syiem”, a biographical movie about the legendary Khasi chief who fought valiantly against British colonial rule.

“In order to take forward our objective of celebrating our heroes, warriors and those who fought valiantly for the cause of our freedom, the department of Arts and Culture has given a go ahead for a movie ‘On the Life and Times of U Tirot Sing Syiem’,” Arts and Culture Minister Paul Lyngdoh told reporters on Wednesday.

Lyngdoh announced that renowned filmmaker Pradip Kurbah has been entrusted with preparing the script and handling other details related to the project.
