State funeral for Lapang in Shillong on Sept 15

Shillong, Sept 13: A state funeral is being accorded in Shillong on Monday for former Chief Minister D D Lapang, who passed away on Friday night.

The Meghalaya Government today issued a notification stating that the state funeral on September 15 will take place at Students Field in Jaiaw, Shillong, at 1 PM.

The mortal remains of the former chief minister will be laid to rest at Jaiaw Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Weiking, Jaiaw.

The Meghalaya Government has announced three days state mourning, from September 13, as a mark of respect for the former chief minister. During the three days state mourning, the national flag will be flown at half mast and there will be no official entertainment.
