Three killed as car rams into truck in Mizoram

Aizawl, Jul 3: At least three people were killed and two others were injured after a speeding car rammed into a stationary truck in Mizoram’s Kolasib town on Thursday, police said.

The accident occurred around 2 am on National Highway-306, linking Mizoram with Assam’s Silchar town, when the car was travelling towards Aizawl, they said.

The car, which bore an Assam registration plate, crashed into a truck parked along the roadside, a police officer said.

The impact was so severe that the truck was pushed more than 50 metres.

Police, assisted by volunteers of the Young Mizo Association (YMA), immediately carried out a rescue operation.

Two occupants of the car were rescued alive, while the bodies of the three others trapped inside the vehicle were retrieved, the officer added.(PTI)
