Tura, July 21: Garo Hills has been rocked by three suicides in the last one week raising concern about the rising number of cases and the need for more counselling centres to deal with this social problem.
While one death occured in Williamnagar, two other incidents were reported from Tura and Dalu border town.
A 42 year old man took his own life at his home in Tura on Sunday morning.
A 55 year old man suffering from depression following separation from his family took the extreme step by hanging himself at his home in Dalu town on the same day.
Earlier, on Friday last, a 24 year old girl from Gambegre region of West Garo Hills, jumped into the Simsang river in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, over a relationship issue. Her body was fished out of the river late in the night.
