Tura, April 11: Meghalaya government has undertaken a major reshuffle in the bureaucracy replacing several bureaucrats, including sitting West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Chelani and the Tura Municipal Board Chief Executive Officer.
East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Agarwal is taking over from Chelani as the the new DC of the district.
The Tura Municipal Board Chief Executive Officer Rikse R Marak has also been replaced with additional deputy commissioner of West Garo Hills Florina Boro.

Outgoing Jagdish Chelani has been transferred as the new Commissioner of Taxes and Executive Director of Meghalaya State Skills Development Society.
It may be mentioned that the two officers, DC Chelani and TMB CEO Rikse Marak, had faced substantial criticism from several Garo organizations in recent weeks over the dismantling of the century old monument honouring the Garo Labour Corps who went to France to help the allied forces during the first world war.
Authorities had planned to erect a new structure at the site but faced widespread criticism from local organizations over the decision to replace the original structure.
