Shillong, May 31: Dozens of cycling enthusiasts were joined by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya and his deputy Raksha Nikhil Khadse at the “Sundays on Cycle” initiative in Shillong as part of the nationwide fitness campaign under the Fit India Movement.
State Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla and senior government officials also rode bicycles along with fitness enthusiasts from across the state.

The rally organised in collaboration with Khelo India and Sports Authority of India (SAI) kicked off at State Central Library, Shillong.
Hailing the initiative, Mandaviya in his social media post said it reflected the spirit of the Fit India Movement and encouraged people to embrace cycling and fitness as part of everyday life.
The cycling event aimed to promote fitness, healthy living and community participation while encouraging people to adopt active lifestyles as part of their daily routine.
Addressing participants, the organisers highlighted the importance of collective efforts in building a healthier and fitter India through public participation in sports and wellness activities.

The strong turnout of participants from different age groups reflected the growing popularity of the “Sundays on Cycle” initiative and increasing awareness about fitness and healthy living among citizens.
The Shillong edition also reinforced the Centre’s push to strengthen sports culture and community engagement through nationwide fitness campaigns under the Fit India Movement.
