Shillong, June 1: Nibedita Paul, NSS Programme Coordinator at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya, was conferred a National-Level Award under the National Service Scheme during the Chintan Shivir organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports at IIM Shillong.
The award was presented by Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports Mansukh Mandaviya in the presence of Union Minister of State Raksha Nikhil Khadse, senior ministry officials, and delegates from across the country.
Dr Paul was recognised for exemplary leadership, dedicated service, and impactful contributions towards youth development, community engagement, and the promotion of the core values of the National Service Scheme.
Ministry representatives lauded her commitment and innovative initiatives at the institutional level, noting her efforts in mobilising students for social service, nation-building activities, and volunteerism.
The two-day Chintan Shivir brought together officers from the Department of Youth Affairs, MY Bharat, and NSS to deliberate on strengthening youth engagement and accelerating the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through workshops and strategic discussions on youth leadership and grassroots development.
Also present at the award ceremony were Dr Pallavi Jain Govil, Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs; Nitesh Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs; and Dr Priyanka Shukla, CEO, MY Bharat. The USTM fraternity called the recognition a moment of honour not only for the University but also for the state and the entire region.
