Water released from Umiam Reservoir

Shillong, Aug 22: The Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited (MePGCL) has started to release water from the Umiam Stage I Reservoir from 11.40 pm on August 21. The release is being made systematically to ensure safety and prevent downstream impacts.

Based on the IMD warning on rainfall for the next 7 days, MePGCL commenced the release of water from the reservoir.

The water level in the reservoir was at 3216.15 feet at the start of the release.

MePGCL says it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to adjust the gate openings to ensure safe and efficient management of the reservoir.
