Shillong, Oct 8: The National People’s Party (NPP) had a shot in its arm with the joining of 44 residents and local leaders from South Shillong constituency.
They were formally inducted into the party following a preliminary meeting held on September 12 to strengthen the party’s base in the constituency.
Earlier, Shillong City NPP Unit general secretary Mehankmen Kharkongor on September 16 sought formal approval for induction of the new members along with a newly elected Executive Committee for the constituency.
Hailing the development, NPP leaders said the influx reflects growing public confidence in the party’s governance and development agenda.
“The steady stream of citizens joining the NPP shows that people are aligning with our vision for Meghalaya. This will give a more disciplined and stronger organizational push in South Shillong,” a local party functionary said.
