Contraband, cattle seized along international border

Shillong,Sept 19: BSF Meghalaya successfully thwarted smuggling attempts along the India-Bangladesh border in separate operations conducted on Tuesday and seized cattle and other contraband items.

The seized items are worth more than Rs 16 lakh, accordingto the BSF.

Acting on a tip-off, BSF troops seized a huge quantity of edible and contraband items along the Indo-Bangla border of East Khasi Hills.

In another operation, the troops rescued 12 buffaloes from the border area of BOP Hawaitila, while being smuggled to Bangladesh.

BSF troops also seized a large quantity of clothing items while being smuggled to Bangladesh. 

The confiscated items were handed over to the customs office concerned for further action.
