Ardent lacked experience in politics, says Dhar

Shillong, Feb 11: NPP national general secretary and deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar has alleged that VPP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit “lacked experience” in serving people.

“VPP president was the CEM of KHADC, but within six-seven months, his EC collapsed. Because of Mukul Sangma and fear of disqualification, he also resigned as MDC. These have happened because he totally lacks the experience (as a political leader),” he said while addressing election rallies at Biar and Rtiang in favour of party candidate from Raliang constituency Bison Roy Iano.

“Without experience it would be difficult (to serve the people). Therefore, we need experienced leaders… Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is the driver of the NPP-led MDA bus for 7 years now. He is a well experienced (driver), we need not worry,” he said.

“The VPP president has also made derogatory remarks related to incest. This also shows the lack of experience as a leader,” Dhar alleged.

Also accusing the VPP president of always finding fault with headmen, he said, “How do you love the jaitbynriew when you cannot even trust the village functionaries?”

The NPP leader also alleged that one of the four Voice of the People Party (VPP) MLAs is no longer with the party.

“It is only in the VPP that MDC tickets have been allotted without taking the local MLA into consideration. This also reflects that the leader of the party really lacks experience,” he further said.

Meanwhile, he urged the people not to be misled by allegations that NPP and BJP are the same.

“How can a book and a flower be the same?…NPP has its own ideology and identity,” he said.

He further claimed that Meghalaya is witnessing more development because the NPP-led state government is working with the Centre and said, “Unlike states like West Bengal where its CM always attacks the Prime Minister, is getting very little development.”

He also alleged that most of the people had voted for VPP in the last Lok Sabha election because of its election song.
