Rakkam to inquire into adventure park damage

Shillong, Feb 11: Cabinet minister and Siju-Rongara MLA Rakkam A Sangma has decided to make an inquiry about root cause of the damage to an adventure park near Siju cave in South Garo Hills.

The park was damaged in 2022 floods, but questions have been raised whether poor quality of work was a factor.

“I don’t know if it is because of rain or the quality of work. I will ask the DC and officials to find out what happened,” Sangma told reporters on Monday.

On renovation of the entrance to Siju cave and related projects, the minister said the project was sanctioned during 2019-20.

“Some work has been done… I have to find out from Tourism department officials,” he said.

Referring to the 2022 floods, Sangma said the parking lot constructed under the programme was completely destroyed.

Meanwhile, components including cafeteria, watch tower, solar lighting and zip-lining have been completed, he said.
