Training Programme on Improved Cashew Cultivation Practices Conducted in Ampati, SWGH

Ampati, February 18: A training programme on improved cashew cultivation practices was successfully conducted at Circuit House, Ampati, on Tuesday. The programme was organized by the Multi Technology Testing Centre & Vocational Training Centre, College of Community Science, CAU, Imphal, and funded by ICAR-Directorate of Cashew Research. The event saw the participation of 50 cashew farmers from four C&RD Blocks of the South West Garo Hills District.

The training programme was graced by the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills District, Hema Nayak, as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries in attendance included Dr. T.N. Ravi Prasad, Principal Scientist, Puttur, and Dr. Jyoti V. Vastrad, Dean of the College of Community Science, Tura, along with officials from various line departments who extended their support to the initiative.

This training programme aims to enhance the productivity and sustainability of cashew farming in the region, equipping farmers with the latest scientific knowledge and resources necessary to optimize yield and quality.

As part of the event, technical bulletins were released to provide farmers with essential knowledge on modern cashew cultivation techniques. Additionally, input supplies were distributed to the participating farmers to aid in the implementation of improved agricultural practices.
