Shillong to host 7th Act East Business show

Shillong, Mar 18: Shillong will be hosting the 7th Act East Business show from March 25 to March 27 at the State Convention Centre where prominent Indian and foreign leaders, policymakers, industry experts will be in attendance. 

Diplomats from the Philippines, Germany, Indonesia, Cambodia, UAE, Japan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and many more have confirmed their participation in this flagship event along with business delegates from their respective countries. The Indian business community will also participate as prospective investors.

The inaugural session will be addressed by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on March 25 where senior Indian government officials and high-ranking diplomats are expected to be in attendance.

The event will focus on three key sessions – Empowering growth through technology & innovation In Meghalaya; Making NE the export hub of agriculture, livestock, food processing and manufacturing and focus on North East India travel, tourism & hospitality.

The event aims to empower the state through technology and innovation, with discussions on IT investments, emerging technologies like AI, Block chain, and an Investor Connect session linking investors with Meghalaya-based startups, inline to the incentives and sector specific policies initiated by Government of Meghalaya to attract investment in the state.

The potential of North East India as an export hub for agriculture, livestock, food processing, and manufacturing will be thoroughly discussed in addition to insights from industry leaders and policymakers on export promotion, trade facilitation, and government initiatives. 

Spotlight will be placed on North East India’s tourism potential, emphasizing digital innovation, sustainable tourism, and public-private partnerships to promote eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and medical tourism.

This business event will also feature Meghalaya as an investment hub and will additionally feature a focused exhibition to display potential investment avenues and business synergies.

The three-day event will feature various B2B, B2G, meetings, match makings which will benefit the business fraternity, exporters, startups, FPO’s & FPC’s of Meghalaya making this a significant step forward in the economic development of the state by facilitating investment opportunities and business collaborations.

The business show will conclude with the Valedictory Session: Meghalaya – Future Roadmap that will outline strategies for sustainable economic growth and regional cooperation. 

It may be mentioned that Meghalaya is rapidly transforming into a premier investment destination, backed by progressive policies, robust infrastructural development, and a proactive governance framework. 

The state is dedicated to fostering a dynamic business ecosystem that encourages entrepreneurship, facilitates seamless investments, and enhances regional and international trade partnerships. 

With a strong emphasis on sustainable growth, innovation, and economic diversification, Meghalaya is poised to unlock new opportunities across key sectors, reinforcing its position as a strategic gateway for trade and investment in the region. It will serve as a catalyst for trade, investment, and cross-border collaboration, positioning Meghalaya as a leading investment hub in India.

The event is being organised in collaboration with Indian Chamber of Commerce and aims to foster stronger economic and trade relations between BBIN & ASEAN nations, focusing on key sectors such as technology, agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism.
